I've written about my dear friend Sonshree and her amazing work before, because her work is important. If the saying "art imitates life" has any merit, than she and her company members at Axis are redefining our preconceptions about life and false ideas around limitations. Oh, and they are now doing that on national television with millions of viewers.
This work is powerful, beautiful, and most importantly symmetrical. There is no delicate princess on a pedestal, no weird obsessive relationship (this is a major theme in dance it seems - celebrated by cinema), and definitely no exploitation of the audiences sympathies.
There is nothing but equanimity on that stage.

It is my sincere hope that, in this case, life can begin to imitate art.

This was so incredible, truly blew me away. I admit, SYTYCD is my guilty TV pleasure, and I adore it when something genuinely and deeply gorgeous pops up on it, which seems to happen every now and again. :)
